Cathays:

The Flora, Cathays Terrace. Does Good food at reasonable prices. Pub quiz on Thursday nights (i think, maybe it's Tuesday!)

The Woodville, Woodville Rd. Very popular with students. Cheap food, though not the best. Does good beer, and some more unusual stuff too

The Social, Miskin St. Another popular student pub. 2 4 1 Cocktails and reduced shots during happy hour. Big sofas and bigger pizzas too.

Gassy Jacks, Sailsbury Rd. Modern interior - low bench seating, cube stools and a few comfy leather sofas. Big screens for sport, cheap drinks and NUS discounts. Good, cheapish food.

The End Coburn St. Cheap drinks and food. Good seating area. 2 pool tables.

Town:

Walkabout, St Mary's St.  Australian theme bar/pub/club. 2 floors. Big screens, loud chart/cheese music.

O'Neils, St Mary's St. Irish theme pub with occasional live bands upstairs.

Yard, St Mary's St. Smart and popular. 2 floors open at weekend. Serves food. Drinks not cheap.

Hard Rock Cafe. St Mary's St. No introduction needed i'm sure. Smart-casual bar with music memorabilia on the walls. Exstensive cocktail menu, not cheap but large and very good. Serves good american themed food from lunch til late.

Great Western St Mary's St. Lloyd's bar chain (2 in Cardiff). 2 floors. Nice interior, good atmosphere. Serves good food.

Prince of Wales St Mary's St. Part of Wetherspoons chain. Probably biggest pub in Cardiff. Heaving on match days.

Moloko Mill Lane. Popular vodka/cocktail bar. Open til 2am most nights. Resident DJs. Gets busy at the weekend

Cuba The Friary (Next to Hilton on the way into Queen St). Cuban themed bar/club. Cheap cocktails, popular with Erasmus students. Music is a mixture of cheese, RnB and old classics.

Ha Ha! The Friary. Popular canteen style bar. Serves good food. Full of beautiful people and after-work business people. Nice outside seating area in summer. Cute barmen!

Slug and Lettuce The Friary. Interesting sounding menu. Popular at lunch time for food. Went there once to eat, waited 20 mins to get served at an empty bar and eventually walked out and went next door to Ha Ha. Probably didn't want to encourage student "rif raf".

Tiger Tiger The Friary. Opened late 2005. Spread over 2 floors. Tiger Tiger has a Grill restaurant, 4 different styled bars and a Club. This place has something for everyone. Food reportedly very good as is the club.
